Our Dallas, TX client is seeking a Geological Technician on a direct hire basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides technical support to geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers on varied tasks, responsible for supporting Exploration and Production projects through various stages toward completion.
Maintain well and geologic databases and projects using Petra software to import and export data.
Lays out and updates complex maps, well logs and cross sections; performs preliminary diagnostic work on data, makes technical analyses, and reports results.
May analyze data from project work and make recommendations.
Responsible for construction and maintenance of mapping and geologic databases for exploration and new projects.
Requirements:
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Geo Tech in an oil and gas operating company.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Geology or closely related discipline
Petra software experience is highly ideal, but will consider Geographix.
Strong computer literacy, including the use of personal computers and related software for data management, is also required.
Prefer candidate to have some skill in or knowledge of acquiring, assimilating and managing data, computer mapping and solving complex problems involving computer systems and data.
Ability to generate maps that are easy to comprehend is also desired, and the ability to perform conventional drafting function would be beneficial.
Must be efficient and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple assigned projects, as well as be able to work independently and in a team environment
Knowledge of geologic systems and well log terminology and analysis.
Strong organizational skills.
