Described as "Artist to the Stars" by The Dallas Morning News, Master Artist Cecil Bernard's paintings can be found in the collections of museums, corporations, politicians, physicians, attorneys, entertainers, and sports figures. And, this season, his art is being shown on the VH1 series "Single Ladies" (beginning with Episode 5).
In 2002, I worked with a relative of Mr. Bernard's to whom this painting was given as a holiday gift. While appreciative of the gesture, the relative and his wife's personal styles were different, and he subsequently gave it to me when I admired it. I still admire it. For several reasons, have had it available for sale for some weeks. But, lost my job December 4th and the price has come down from $3325.00. :-) Offering it to someone who will also appreciate the depth of color and striking design.

As can be seen by the chart of names below, Mr. Bernard's client list is impressive, and includes Usher, Steve Harvey, and Wynton Marsalis. Although I do not follow football in general, a favorite for me is Tony Dorsett. Being a Texas Rangers fan, I am happy to see Ferguson Jenkins, too! Many other well-known names and local favorites are on the list.
Mr. Bernard is known more for his themes of spirituality, jazz music, and abstract art, making this landscape something of a rarity. He had the painting framed under glass, and I do not wish damage it by trying to 'get at' the surface for up-close photographs. Do not know how to photograph straight-on without reflections, so the work was photographed from side and top-down angles to minimize camera flashes. :D Background surface looks more like watercolor paper than canvas, but textural differences in the medium can be seen and it appears to my untutored eye to be done in acrylic. Approximate dimensions of the painted area are 8¼ H x 16½ W. Overall framed dimensions are approximately 15½ H x 23½ W. The edges of the frame's paper backing are coming up in a few areas, as can be seen in the photo. Since the backing photo was taken, the framer's shop label has come loose and is no longer adhered to the paper. The frame has some scuffs around a couple of corners.
